Completed Project: Feature Article

I like how my feature article has turned out, I think it is very effective to come across as bright and colourful which is appealing to the target audience. I decided to use a full page for a picture because people dont want to be reading loads and loads so I made the questions straight to the point and important. There are two text grabs which will drag the reader into wanting to know what the artist were talking about. I decided to take the photo on the article with the top of her head missing, this is to reflect that my magazine doesnt always follow the usual magazine conventions and adds originality and a sense of uniqueness to it. The title ''The Perfect Split'' is a play on words as the band was called imperfection and the fact that they have split up may prove to be a good thing. On the subheading i used the term ''rocked the nation'' to make it seem like the split had upset everyone in the country to make them sound like they are a great band who everyone loves. It is also appropriate because it is a music magazine and ''rocked'' is also musically appropriate. The photograph matches the colour scheme because I chose a yellow cardigan to clash with them to stand out on the page. Then the pink bag and dress with pink in to match the text grabs, this way the picture will not look odd on the page it all matches up together. I think to improve my magazine feature story I could have added another small question then it would fill out the entire page. I could also have added at the bottom a page number and maybe who the interview was done by. This would have added authenticity to the magazine making it look even more genuine.

Completed Project: Contents Page

This is my completed contents page of my magazine. I think it has turned out really well because there isnt just one artist on the photographs. I tried to show a variety of photographs to reflect that of the magazines genre. I chose to have ''Headlining Act'' as a heading to show what is the main story which was a band splitting up and the magazine had an exclusive interview with one of the members. This makes the reader think that they are only going to hear from this artist in my magazine because it is her first and only interview. I used another photograph of the female artist because i wanted the reader to see them in different ways, I like the photo because she has a guitar and looks natural with the music, I chose to make the photograph sepia because it doesnt look as bright on the magazine and then when the reader see's the feature article it will be like it is a completely different style of picture. I cut out one artist to make it seem like he was just standing on the page which stands out really well. I decided to add an editors letter and the photograph used on there shows the person in the picture playing on guitar hero which is more appropriate for an editor as they have fun and it doesnt look as serious. I think to improve my contents page i should have added something in the top right of the page where there is a space to fill the page out a bit more. Also when cutting out my male artist it doesnt look very well edited at the bottom with his feet so to try and fix this I put him at the bottom of the page because people are less likely to look at them then. I tried to make the pages sound interesting and un repetetive, I think that has worked and this way the reader will think that every article is different and they are getting lots of news and gossip from the artists.

Completed Project: Front Cover

This is my completed cover for my magazine. I like the colours that are used because they can represent the target audience which is female, so the pinks are appropriate to it. I also like the photo on the cover because I think it looks really professional, it is a close up shot because I wanted it to focus on her face so the it would stand out on the page and to the reader. The masthead can draw readers in because when they are in the magazine racks in shops the cover isnt always shown to I put something catchy at the top of the magazine to draw my target audience in. They would see it and think about the festival and it would make them read through the magazine to see how they could win. I used pink once on the cover to make it bold on the page, it is my main article and so the reader would instantly see that and read it, I decided to put a text grab there aswell to give them an insight to the article before reading it, it makes the reader intrigued to read on. I think my title is appropriate because it makes the reader think that the magazine is going to be about backstage at concerts and festivals and they would be getting information that no other magazine would have which adds originality to it and makes it unique to other music magazines out there. I think to make my magazine front cover more effective I could have maybe included a bit more information to it by arranging my photograph differently to add information around the sides without making it look too full. I could have also edited it so i cut her body out of the image and then placed it back on the same background to make her head come over the title this would make it look 3D and like the person on the cover is more important than seeing the name of the magazine.

Unedited Cover Photo

This is the photo that I am going to use in my feature article. I like how the colours stand out on the black and white floral background, I have captured the photo with the top of the head cut off to add an artistic effect on the photograph, this makes my magazine as though it doesnt always follow the usual conventions of a magazine and adds originality and a sense of individuality to the magazine.

This is the photo that I am going to use for my front cover. It is currently unedited and I am going to try and edit it as little as possible, I took the photograph in black and white because my colour scheme inside the magazine focuses around grey, blue and pink so this would blend in better with the page, it also makes the other photographs look like they have been taken in a completely different area to this one because of the colour tone. I like how she is wearing sunglasses because it makes her look like she doesnt care because she is inside and wearing them even though this isnt the normal thing that everyone does. This is showing that she is different from the everyone else.

Planning The Cover Shoot

On the cover I have chosen to base it around my feature story which will be about a band splitting up. I have decided that the photo on the cover is going to be one of the female artists from the band.

Clothes: Bright, vibrant coloured cardigan, not to much as it will be a close up shot.

Setting: Inside, with black and white flowerprint wallpapered wall.

Props: Sunglasses
